Have you abandoned a travel diary because it gets boring to write in each day? Or do you never read your travel journals again because they sound so tedious?
You are not alone, and this course will teach you all kinds of ways to breathe the liveliness of your trip into your travel journal writing so that your diaries become treasured possessions which you re-read and share regularly.
Over three weeks, you'll receive six lessons, including exercises to complete and the chance to get feedback and chat with fellow students in a private Facebook group. The lessons cover:
- Using the five senses (or maybe six?!)
- Looking at the details (and not looking at the details)
- What's your unique story here?
- Cliches begone (please)
- Using humour and emotion (sometimes together!)
- Putting it all together: A checklist for great travel diary writing
The first lesson will be released on Monday 7th January, and lessons will follow each Thursday and Monday until 24th January. But the course content will be there for the next six months so you can access it any time!

Hi! I'm Amanda Kendle from the travel blog NotABallerina.com and The Thoughtful Travel Podcast, and I've been writing travel journals since I was seven years old. These days I live in Perth, Western Australia with my son, and before that I lived and worked in Japan, Slovakia and Germany. I've been a travel addict and words lover my whole life, and am excited to share these two passions with you, too.
